Paul McGill

Managing Director & Executive Producer

Paul leads the Maakan Advisory and Maakan Productions practices. He brings over 20 years of strategy, financial, producing and operational experience to all his roles and has worked with clients across the commercial, government and not for profit sector. Previously a consulting director with Deloitte and the Director, International Market Development for Circus Oz, Australia’s internationally acclaimed contemporary circus. He has held commercial, marketing and finance roles with both Mobil Oil Australia and Coca Cola Schweppes Breweries in London. He is currently the Chair of Hothouse Theatre.

Jane McGill

Senior Associate

Jane is an economics, finance and investment specialist who has worked within government, commercial, and consulting in Australia, United States, Japan and the United Kingdon for over 20 years. Jane rose from economist/investment strategist to heading two investment businesses within global funds manager Schroders. Subsequently she was a senior policy advisor to then Victorian Treasurer John Brumby, overseeing the tax reform package in the 2004 State Budget and thereafter his commercial advisor. She was also a senior advisor to the Federal ALP on economic, financial, infrastructure and environment policy in the lead up to the 2007 election. At Maakan, Jane’s particular focus is investment management including the management of infrastructure and other capital projects from conception to delivery.

Jason Buchanan

Senior Associate

Jason is a management consultant and commercial manager with more than 20 years of strategy, risk, financial and operational consulting and commercial expertise.  This includes 10 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Consulting as a Principal Consultant, 5 years as Senior Managing Consultant with IBM Global Business Services (GBS), and a further 5 years in various Business Operations and Program Management roles with IBM GBS across ANZ, Asia Pacific and Growth Markets (Asia Pacific, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Latin America).

Anthony Palmer

Senior Associate

Anthony is an experienced media professional with extensive business affairs and commercial experience in the television and entertainment sectors gained in the UK, the US and Australia. In addition to degrees in law and commerce (University of Melbourne), Anthony holds a Master of Fine Arts in Producing from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, California.

Catherine Church


Catherine brings a Masters of Psychology and 10 years experience in strategic marketing and consumer psychology, working both agency and client-side to deliver insights across a range of industries, including Tourism, FMGC, Finance, the Arts and Technology. More recently she has worked closely with a number of small businesses and start ups to deliver big marketing results on small budgets. Catherine is passionate about getting to the heart of brands and organisations and specialises in auditing markets and brand equity then creating clear paths to solve marketing challenges. Since joining Maakan in 2010 she has worked across multiple projects to deliver comprehensive and practical marketing expertise.

Nick Jackson


Nick is a financial analyst and planning specialist. Since joining Maakan in 2011, Nick is a key project team member, involved in business case development, financial modelling, market research and trend analysis.
